Chesty GM Adelaide Nash Hash 2027

Chesty provides an update on decisions made and progress with hosting the event.

Hi all,

Welcome to the first newsletter from the Adelaide Nash Hash ’27 committee.

Firstly we’d like to explain why we chose the Slovenian Club as the main venue for Adelaide Nash Hash ’27. You may remember that for Adelaide NH’21 (cancelled due to Covid restrictions) we had chosen the old Adelaide Gaol as the venue. It would have worked in ‘21/’22 but it is now much more expensive to hire, has several new costly restrictions and is right next to the construction of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital. We estimated that the NH rego price would have been $60 pp more if we used the Gaol, so we started looking for alternative venues.

We weren’t having much luck until one of the committee (Buddha) recommended the Slovenian Club in Dudley Park. It has a capacity of 750 people, has two large interconnected halls with bars, a large indoor stage and a big covered “alfresco/bocce” area with another bar next to the main clubrooms. It has 70 car parks, so lots of room for food trucks and Portaloos etc. It is a few kilometres north of North Adelaide, but is on the Adelaide to Gawler train line. The club is a 650m walk from the Dudley Park train station, the third station from the city. We think it will be a great venue for Nash Hash.

Many of you know Boxy, who looked after Freo NH’s website. He’s volunteered to do the same for us. And AssAssIn, also from Hammersley H3, has volunteered to help check who’s paid for regos. We’re still testing the online rego system as well as sorting out our bank accounts, but we hope to be open for business shortly. You’ll be able to register for the Red Dress Run at the same time.

We’ve also prepared a first pass budget for the event to come up with an Early Bird rego price of $420. That’s only $10 more than Freo’s Early Bird – made possible by the lower overall cost of the new venue. The Red Dress Run rego will be $80, which includes a sizable donation to Foodbank.

The large committee of volunteers this time includes many who worked on the cancelled Adelaide Nash Hash ’21 event and its offspring, the Not the Nash Hash mini-event and run. We’re gluttons for punishment so we’re back again! You’ll find a list of us on this website.
